Last Shuttle Launch

Today was the last scheduled launch of the Space Shuttle Atlantis. It’s the end of an era as they say. I’m really glad for facebook and my liking of one of the local news stations because they posted the link to cnn.com. I immediately turned on the tv and me and the girls watched it together.

They were on the floor cutting paper and gluing them onto other pieces of paper and I was all excited to watch the launch. I know they don’t understand “outer-space” and can’t understand the distance of 5 miles ABOVE the earth but it was still a big deal.

I made sure they helped with the countdown. 5-4-3-2-1

As the countdown got stuck at -31 seconds I thought, I should run and get the girls some clothes so my pictures aren’t of nakie children watching the launch. Then it was restarted. There was no way I was getting upstairs to get clothes and them clothed in 31 seconds AND prep the camera.

So there you have it. My girls watched the launch and as I sat watching the people of Florida (and where ever else they traveled from, there was over a million people in the surrounding areas) I thought about how exciting it was that Florida had some happy news. Seeing as the state (and the rest of the country) is still in shock over Casey Anthony being found not guilty of killing her daughter, Caylee.
