Last month before we traveled to Buffalo, we stopped in Danville, NY to spend the day with Keith and Jacob. They camp every year at a place called Stony Brook State Park. For the locals, it’s similar to Buttermilk Falls in Ithaca. There’s hiking, water trails, camping, a nice huge playground and it’s pretty close to town so if you need anything, you just run out quick.
Zia LOVED that tire swing! Couldn’t get enough of it.
That bridge made me a little nervous. I mean, did you see when it was built? That’s OLD!!! It’s been in the elements, and floods but the girls didn’t seem to mind.
Sonyea begged and begged and begged to go swimming so we finally found a decent place to set up camp and splash around. Her favorite part was just hanging out, picking up rocks and throwing them around.
Zia, on the other hand. Was not thrilled. She did settle for trying to catch the fishes.
And poor Vicky… she was NOT happy to be in the water and so far away from me!
Keith cooled off the only way he knew how. (it would probably have involved beer if he could =) )
We tried to convince Sonyea to go with him to check out the waterfall but she wasn’t having anything to do with it. Just hung out throwing rocks.
Thought we’d try to get a good picture of father/son but even that got ruined by this photobomber.
BOYS!!
Walking down these stairs was enough to send this Acrophobiac into a panic (while pausing to take photos of course.)
We are still in the process of getting a decent family picture with the cousins. I just don’t understand why it’s so difficult!
Here ya go Grammie. Your prize winning family photo!!!
Shortly after that, the boys thought it would be funny to throw really big rocks in the water right in front of Zia and make it splash in her face. They are mean!!
Zia didn’t seem to care much though, just brushed away the water and went about her business. Vicky, she wasn’t happy to be tied to the tree, but that’s life sometimes. We took a break from the water long enough to scarf down some hotdogs and salad and then right back into the water.
Sitting on the rock like Ariel!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… she really loves her Uncle Keith!! They went for a walk to visit the the waterfall nearby the campsite.
