Gilmour Jon’s birthday

DSCN7931On Wednesday, March 6, 2013 we welcomed Gilmour Jon into the Knapp family. He topped the scale at 9# 4oz and was 21 inches long.

This little boy had some trouble breathing.  His oxygen level wasn’t where it should have been so he spent five hours in the special nursery with his Daddy.  Meanwhile, his Momma was very sad.  Missing them horribly and feeling very empty.

After his levels evened out and he had a bath, Jimmy brought him into my room at 7:15pm.  If I could have jumped out of bed to grab this boy out of his mobile bed, I would have!!  He fit into my arms perfectly and he smelled amazing.

The C-section recovery was the best yet.  I was up and moving around less than 24 hours after surgery and was really only taking pain medicine because it was available.  I honestly didn’t need it much.  The worst part was being kept an extra day because his bili levels went up and they put him on the lights.  Thankfully, he was plugged in right in our room.  Sonyea had to be in the nursery for that.  Gilmour did not tolerate it very well.  He cried a LOT!!

DSCN8078Eventually, he slept for a little bit on his tummy (bad mommy!) and then the rest of the time I held him.  I couldn’t deal with him crying and I wasn’t getting any sleep and I was not about to let him be alone in the nursery.  I was discharged on Saturday and he had to stay until further notice.  Thankfully, his numbers went down a little so we were discharged on Sunday and they sent home a bili-blanket.

DSCN8096Thanks again to my mom for taking time off work to stay with the girls.  I know they are hard work but they love you and appreciate all you do for them!

DSCN8010So there’s our birth story, a lot late with teaser photos.  He’s about to turn 12 weeks old.  Almost 3 months!!  More to come hopefully, sooner than later!

Oh, and PS…. for those that do not know, here’s the low down on his name…

He’s named Gilmour after David Gilmour of Pink Floyd fame.  His middle name is in honor of my dad Ron and Jimmy’s dad John.  Smoosh it together and you get Jon.  Interesting tidbit, little G was born on David Gilmour’s birthday AND his middle name is Jon.  Totally coincidence!!
