Happy Valentine’s Day

This year, Sonyea is having a party at school. At Head Start, they do not “celebrate” holidays. I was kinda disappointed with that but we did enough at home for ALL the holidays that it didn’t really matter. This year, I totally got into it.

Instead of going to the store and buying a box of pre-made valentines I decided to get creative. I saw this.  Mind you ours are NOT nearly as nice as these but it’s the thought that counts. I wanted Sonyea to do most of the work. We started early so we weren’t fighting over making them in a hurry before the party. I’m proud to say we finished them two days early and even made a few for her Coaches and friends. I will admit, we did eat a few on the way. I present to you, our 2012 Valentine’s Day Tootsie flowers!

I wrote out the Happy Valentine’s Day, and she added her friends’ names and her name.

Once we got to a really hard name like Mrs Lamoureaux, we switched to a pen so it would fit on the flower better and I must admit we should have been using it all along. She just loves using the Sharpie on special occasions.

I couldn’t be more proud of her and her willingness to learn new letters she hasn’t learned at school yet and for trying to be patient. We could NEVER homeschool together.

We did two large bags of tootsie pops worth of flowers and she really can’t concentrate without that tongue sticking out and licking her lips.
