What’s Zia doing?

Zia is 2 1/2 years old this month! How the heck did that happen? My little baby went from newborn to begging to go to school in a heartbeat. She wants to grow up so bad and be just like Sonyea it’s crazy.  Sonyea hit the weight limit on her car seat so we took the 5 point harness out.  Zia is begging to lose hers as well.  No Way Jose!  Not until you also hit 65 pounds.  For now, you can wait since you only weigh in at 33 pounds.  She’s wearing mostly 3T and some 4T clothing and about to outgrow a size 6 shoe.

While Sonyea is in school, we usually hang home and don’t do much, especially since I’m not working right now and money is very tight. We do venture out once a week for Mommy and Me gymnastics but I’m getting over a cold and felt very guilty about keeping the girls indoors while I mope around ill, I took Zia to see Johnny Only. We haven’t seen him in ages!!! I think the last time we went, it was the day before Thanksgiving show LAST YEAR. I really think I enjoy the show more than the girls do. I know Sonyea was very bored the last few times we’ve gone so that’s probably why we’ve been skipping out. Zia really wasn’t into the show much, just kinda hung out watching. She did recognize a few of the songs, I’ll admit, I did not. Right towards the end is when it got really fun! A Tootie Ta, Ring-around the Rosie, Highland Park and Bubbles!

I absolutely adore A Tootie Ta. If you’ve never seen it, heard it… GOOGLE IT! (nevermind, I went ahead and did it for you.  Click the link to see it)  The first time I ever heard that song was Jacob’s pre-k graduation.  Oh My Goodness!!  What a funny sight.  Of course, our favorite part is tongue out and eyes closed now turn around!  **Keith, do you have that on video?  Jacob’s graduation?  I’d sure love to see that again!  I was in tears laughing so hard when I saw that.  It’s even funnier to see it when the kids are sitting in their car seats, tongue out… eyes shut and singing.

Zia is officially a Two year old now, all four of her two-year molars are in. They only took about 2ish months to grow in and we really didn’t see any behaviour changes with her.  Her favorite thing to do right now is pretend.  Her and Sonyea pretend they are the teacher or the Mommy.  The pretend to eat ice cream and all they do is fight over that pretend thing.  I think I’m going to start letting them fight it out and give out hugs and kisses to make their boo-boos feel better.  I’m tired of yelling at them to stop fighting.

“Where is Thumbkin?”

The biggest issue we have right now is Halloween. We love Halloween, I love the Halloween specials, I love the thought of dressing up to be what you want to be and of course, I love candy!! (I pity the fools who don’t like candy!) We watched the movie Spooky Buddies last weekend.  Who doesn’t love five adorable puppies, dressed up in costumes saving the day?  That would be Zia.  There was a warlock and a Halloween Hound that just terrified her.  She is now mostly afraid of going to bed at night.  One night, she was up until 10:30PM because she wouldn’t go to sleep.  That same night, she was awake in the middle afraid of monsters.  Two nights ago, she was up at 6:30am because there were snakes in her bed.  Great, I’ve got a sensitive child.  I didn’t think that would happen.  We love all things crazy around here.  Sonyea loves that kind of stuff too!

I didn’t want to go the route of monster spray because I don’t want her thinking monsters are real.  We took out the giraffe that has been bothering her and she’s still nervous.  The last two nights, she hasn’t had an overly excitable night because she didn’t nap during the day.  The one way I’ve convinced her everything is going to be OK is by loading her up with friends to sleep with.  She has Splash the dolphin to cuddle.  She has Georgie the giraffe to watch over her and the room.  He has a long neck after all and can see everything or danger coming.  His job is to warn me and I’ll come protect her.  We haven’t had any problems since Georgie set up watch.  Georgie is great fun.  Check out this video of him entertaining a young Sonyea.

She barely has any room to move around in there. You also can’t see the handful of (hard) little people, My Little Ponys and whatever else she grabbed before going to bed last night.

Grammie’s puppy is also set up to watch. I told her that he will bark and wake her up any time she needs to see what is going on. Hopefully, we don’t hear any dogs barking overnight!

And in the meantime, we won’t be allowing Sonyea to try on this mask again.
