Earrings, puppy dogs, and a hair cut

Instead of making five different blog posts, I’m just going to summarize our week into one and break it up a little bit.

One of these days, I’m going to turn this into a blog where I talk about serious stuff, not just about my cute little girls because these cute little girls are growing up so fast. Family and friends aren’t going to want to know about the monster tweens and the hell on Earth teenagers!!

The excitement of the day around here revolves around the changing of the earrings. It’s that time.

They are ARE healed up enough to put in the fun and funky. I’m not talking the little gold studs/balls. We are talking the ice cream cones with smiley faces and googly eyes!! I’m talking the pink strawberries with the googly eyes and smiley faces because we had strawberry smoothies for breakfast!!

So far, they can handle the costume jewelry and I think that might get us into trouble. So far, we keeping them nice, we aren’t touching them because they aren’t toys. So far, little fingers are just looking and deciding what to put in that day. It’s so much fun!!

Have you ever made home made donuts? I’m not talking about the tons of flour, butter and sugar. I’m talking about the easy way!!!

Photobucket

I’m talkin’ about popping open (literally) a tube of buttermilk biscuits. Store bought. You know, the kind where you tear off the paper and using the back of spoon force it into the cardboard and pop later you have squished dough! That kind. The girls made these themselves!!

And for once, there was no fighting involved!! Take a doughy biscuit, flatten it, using a pop bottle lid cut out the center hole, set aside.

In hot oil, (shit, mine was too hot and 3/4 of them were burned) fry for a minute on each side. Mine took less than 30 seconds to burn, so watch the temp of that oil!!.

After a nice brown color, set on paper towels to soak up the access oil and then top with your favorite topping.

Sonyea and I had hot fudge topping on ours and Jimmy’s was tossed in a bag of sugar/cinnamon. We also cooked up the donut holes and tossed them in the sugar/cinnamon mix. So easy and so yummy!!

Photobucket

Seriously, the kids did all the work! (except the frying of course!)

Is there any other way to get a perfect chocolate mustache that Momma just wants to eat up?? I think not!!

Sonyea has been due for a haircut for quite some time. I butchered her bangs last month and it was just time to get it cleaned up. We ran to Cost Cutters and I hate it. I hate her hair cut. Good thing it’ll all grow back before we know it and I can get it done again. I think she’ll be living in hats/ponies for quite some time!!

We had a not so nice visit to the zoo today. I won’t get into it, let’s just say that everything always ends in a fight. I did get some good photos to share though!!

Photobucket*Zeus, he’s a Black and White Ruffed Lemur. He’s pretty old and has cataracts. He’s way cool and seriously misses his mate Lucy! But he still looks great!! And with the Binturong gone for breeding, there’s a nice huge empty place just for him!!

Photobucket

Who doesn’t love meerkats? I mean, everyone loves Timon!! We love this guy because he’s always in the window sunning and checking everything out!!

Photobucket

*I* love Gila Monsters!! They are non-lethal but if you are ever bitten by one, you’d WISH YOU WERE DEAD!! I had one in Grand Island that I used to hold everyday and pet. I’d even let the public touch them. Have you ever touched a gila monster? I’d hold his head and let people touch his tail. It’s not like I put him on my shoulder and hung out. I was safe!! This guy is WAY cool!!

Nothing like the first carrousel of the year!! Ross Park’s is open on the weekends!!

Can you say turkey?? All I wanted was a smile with the really cool flowers! This is what I got.
