T-ball and a Blast from the past

Zia woke us up bright and early this morning. 6 stinkin’ 30! At least we were up and ready for the parade.

Today is opening day for Spring Ball here. We decided instead of sitting around, watching tv, we might as well get up and get going for the parade.

We met “downtown” Kirkwood and Sonyea and I rode the “float” while Zia and Daddy hung out on the playground and then watched the parade. They also hitched a ride from the road into the park. The only thing they missed really were more ball players and left over candy.

The line up area was just as I remembered a parade line up should be. Lots of people/kids standing around bored wondering what time it was, when was the parade going to start and “this kinda sucks” thoughts wafting everywhere. The only difference was I didn’t have a routine to practice.

Photobucket*I like those people!!

Those crazy kids were throwing candy at the trees, fences, driveways so when we finally got down to the kids they didn’t have any candy to throw.

At least the ball players behind us walking got lots of candy and the home owners will have to pick up a lot before they mow.

We got into the park almost an hour before the game started. Sonyea got a voucher for hotdogs and a drink so we helped support the league by buying us all one. The girls also got a chance to play on the playground for a bit.

Game time and only 6 of Sonyea’s team was there. I over heard Coach say he knew 4 wouldn’t be there. Either somebody didn’t do a very good job of evening out the teams or a heck of a lot more than 4 didn’t show up for her team.

After warming up, Sonyea’s team got to bat first. Most of the balls were hit towards the pitching position. Sonyea did great!

Out in the field, there was a lot of “typical” field positions going on. She started out in Right field but then had to go to the bathroom. Once back, she was up at the pitchers right side.

At the ready, well most of the time…

Second time in the field, she played first base! She did a great job of telling the other kids when to run and even used her glove to push them along to second base. A few times the ball was hit towards her and even once behind her. She did great. Scooped the ball up and touched the base.

And in showing great form, they all lined up to high five the other team all saying “good game.” They had a blast!

For our local friends/family… our next game is Wednesday, May 9th at 6PM at River Park. If you need directions or a ride, let us know. You can stop here and ride along with us! I know Sonyea would LOVE the support!!

Sonyea has recently found Georgie. If you’ve been a follower of Sonyea’s since she was young, you’ll remember him as our Dancing Giraffe friend!! She’s been snuggling with him at night now and there has even been a few fights between the girls on who gets to sleep with him!! I dug out the old video of Sonyea laughing at him dance. Enjoy! I remember my little baby from so long ago but boy has she changed since!!!
