(photos taken November 22, 2011) When Sonyea was in Head Start last year, we were welcomed with open arms to come visit anytime! Zia and I ended up visiting for lunch and free time every Tuesday.
This year, with scheduling being a little more difficult and more structure at Pre-K we just haven’t had a chance to visit. It was time to change that. Zia is craving a little more structure now but feast at school was nowhere near structure.
That was by NO MEANS a knock on the teaching staff!! I love what Mrs Bennett is doing for Sonyea. She is thriving in school and from the first day of class in September to right now, the last days of November, there’s been a HUGE change. She’s recognizing more and more letters and numbers daily. She’s learning math, science, social studies, and structure.
There was a party going on!! The kids made their own edible cornucopias, a sugar cone filled with raisins, cranberries, cookies and crackers. They all had their own personal pudding pie with whipped cream. It was great to see the kids dressed up like pilgrims and indians. Great crafts, all made out of paper.
Zia has mastered the computer at home. She can do what ever she wants to do and does. She’s a pro at finding her favorite websites on Kidoz. I love that browser (thanks Keith) because they aren’t messing around with my stuff. Zia was just the cutest wearing the headphones. She fits right in and made herself at home.
The kids all made their own placemats for the feast as well.
Sonyea seems to fit right in with the boys.
Waiting patiently for directions is very hard to do when there are exciting things ahead!!
There was even enough for the teachers and Mommy helpers to have some. Yum! We were very happy to help at school and would love to help out any time!!

(November 29, 2011) Back in my day, you only know the Principal because you were either really involved with school or you were always in trouble. We over slept today, we missed the bus but had enough time to get dressed, a bite to eat and get to school. As we were walking in the front door, Mrs Milano (Principal) said “Good Morning Sonyea.” I was pretty shocked. Why does the Principal know my child’s name? She’s in Pre-k. She’s not involved yet, and certainly not in trouble. It is really nice to know that she knows my child though. I love this school and am actually pretty sad that she won’t be staying there next year.
