Halloween craft project

We are having a lot of boring times around here. The girls won’t play with any toys (it’s obviously time to clean up and rotate) and all they do all day long is whine and fight. It’s so terrible around here. Tonight after dinner, it was even worse because of our rough night last night (Sonyea was sick). Everyone is really tired and edgy. I checked out some emails and found an email in there with Halloween craft ideas.

I deleted the original page so I can’t cite where we found it but it was fun. I took two large bowls, one for each girl of course, and they added one cup of flour and one cup of salt with a 1/2 cup of water. Mixed with a spoon and then mixed by hand the rest of the way. This is when the whining started about needing to wash hands and “I don’t like it.” Yea, they both tasted it. Blah!

We left one batch white and took a large ball and used food coloring to dye it brown. All of Sonyea’s batch was dyed orange.

We took meatball size balls and put little brown hats on top and made a ton of pumpkins. Zia’s batch I made to look like ghosts. The ghosts didn’t turn out very well but the pumpkins were way cool.

Once we had all our shapes together, we put them in the microwave at 30 second intervals and cooked them for about 90 seconds. They are still pretty soft, I probably should have cooked them longer but the girls were impatient.

I pulled out a few sharpies and later the black paint to make the jack-o-lantern faces on the pumpkins and ghosts. After an initial amount of arguing and yelling at each other, it turned out to be a cool craft. They are now lined up on the tv and stereo speakers.
