Apple faces

After lunch today, I heard multiple times from Sonyea “I’m still hungry.” I told her to get an apple. As usual, she couldn’t find them sitting in the fridge so I got one for her. When they eat apples, they prefer the skin to be peeled off. I didn’t feel like doing that so I instead sat down with a steak knife and “carved a pumpkin face” in the apple. She finished the whole thing. Then, 25 minutes later, after we made cookies she begged to eat those and when I said no, they were for after dinner tonight she asked for another apple. This time with a request for a “girl” face.

She was very excited about it and ate the whole thing, right down to the seeds. She told me today that she knows apples have seeds because they are learning about apples and trees in school. They went for a walk to the apple tree on the hill. I’m assuming they have an apple tree on school grounds. Maybe next weekend we’ll head up there so she can she can show us.

Here’s my dramatic little girl with her “girl” apple.
