Sometimes when you are stuck in the house, you just have to go someplace!! It’s a great weekend outside again and we spent half of it inside the Discovery Center and the other half outside.
The Discovery Center is all decked out for Halloween. So much fun stuff inside as usual but with the holiday stuff up, it’s even better. We loved climbing in and out the pumpkin chariot. Only thing missing was some mice and an old dog and a pissy cat (watch Cinderella!)
No need for fairy wings in this Halloween haunt, we’re wearing the bat wings! Zia wouldn’t even try them on. She’s getting better with her “fears.”
We meant to stop at the fire station’s open house, but we missed that so the next best thing is the old fire truck at the DC!
*yup, she wore the bat wings pretty much the entire time we were there.
I can’t help but think of Grandpa Jacobs EVERY time we go to the DC and hit up the fire truck room. How can you not? The guy was a member of the Elwood Fire Company for more than 50 years! He died just over a year ago, we miss you tons Grandpa!!
Back to those fears, Zia was a little put off by this dancing couple of skeletons. I took a picture with her just to show her it was A-OK!
Look, it’s Ariel. We love her too! Addicted to mermaids, just a little.
And we love ice cream!! How can you not?
When one is wearing bat wings, you have to pose with Dracula. It’s just the thing to do!
And I told you, she’s addicted to telephones!! In the few minutes she sat here, she talked to Mrs Bennett (her teacher), Alaina (her BFF), Alyssa (her other BFF) and Grammie.
Now the most important of them all, the check list to find out if you are a werewolf… One of my children needs to be watched this full moon!!
I love love love love love little kid size sinks!!!

So, I’ve come to realize I really need to stick with taking photos of the girls in the sun. The inside/flash photos are just crap. I’m working on it. I’m practicing, I’m playing around with settings and I’m reading as much as I can. I’m posting some sketchy photos only because my subjects are pretty cute and they tell the story of what we are up to. I’m not going to win any awards with these.
I am very proud of this one. Every now and again, I get one that surprises me. It’s not the best out there but it’s pretty dang good!
Did you know brussel sprouts grew like this? Jimmy told me not to get any ideas for next year. Little does he know, we ARE going to grow one of these next year. Right next to my okra plant!!
When you see something “pun-y” and it makes you chuckle, you have to document it. This is a foot bridge. Get it? A foot… bridge.
Sonyea’s UPK class watched some caterpillers eat and grow and then make their chrysalis’ and then they watched the butterflies fly away towards Mexico. It was a great learning experience for her and she told me all about it every day at home. They read the Very Hungry Caterpiller at school. She found it read to her on the computer and then we ran into it at the DC’s storybook garden. I had both of them standing here but only Zia was patient enough to wait for my camera to be ready. You’d think with the amount of photos I take, they’d be more patient with me. Nope, I get action shots from these kids. Posing is impossible for them.
