Picture day with costumes

Today was picture day at UPK. We had her outfit picked out for days and decided this morning what to do with her hair. We practiced smiles to make sure they weren’t some cheesy four year old fake smile. I’m too impatient to wait for them to be returned to us. I can’t wait.

She wanted ponies on the side that hang down. Her hair just isn’t long enough for that so we compromised. We put two ponies on the side and put her Yankee’s bow on one side and a made up pony holder on the other.

I have no idea what time pictures were this morning, hopefully it wasn’t too late and she wasn’t to disheveled.

I’ve been locked inside this house way too long so this afternoon we decided to head out. Got my last paycheck for awhile and went shopping for some cleaning supplies and ended up spending a lot of money. We got Halloween costumes for the girls.

Sonyea has been begging for almost a year now to be Rapunzel. We finally found a costume at Toys R Us that wasn’t too expensive and yea, they flooded. We stopped at the Halloween store (did you know they aren’t in the Walmart Plaza anymore? The flood must have displaced them too) to check things out. The most annoying part of that whole store is “Try Me” buttons don’t work. They didn’t work last year either.

I didn’t show her the mask before I put it on. Made her take the picture first, didn’t want her to be “afraid.” Of course, she’s not afraid of anything! We pulled out the Rapunzel costume and she loved it. It was her size and everything. For the last few days she’s decided she wanted to be called Jasmine and wants to wear a Jasmine costume. We were all set to buy the Rapunzel dress and then bam, we found the Jasmine costume, In Her Size. Granted there’s not a lot of room underneath in case it’s cold outside on Halloween. Maybe we’ll get lucky this year and it’ll be warm out.

Zia has been in love with Belle for most of this year. There was no doubt in my mind she was going to pick out the Belle (Beauty and the Beast for the non-Disney lovers out there) costume. The one at the Halloween store was just too big (and expensive). I took my chances that we’d find one at another store cheaper. I was right, it’s not as nice but she loves it and she looks adorable in it! It’ll be perfect for the Halloween party at school!

Now, I just need to hide them so they don’t get trashed before the big day.
