Last playdate of the summer

We have some really good friends. Alaina is just a few days older than Sonyea and we’ve been playing together since about their 2nd birthdays. They are totally different little girls, Sonyea very loud and outgoing. Alaina, shy and quiet. The first three times we went over there, that little girl screamed and cried as soon as we walked in the door.

Now, she begs for us to visit and gets very excited. Just like Sonyea and Zia!! They love going over there any time of the year but summer is their favorite. We hang out in the backyard and swim the whole time.

Time moves at warp speed when we are there. We walk in the door and the next thing you know, we’ve been there for 3 hours and we haven’t had lunch yet.

Then 2 hours goes by and it’s time to leave.

Then an hour later, we are walking out the door. It’s crazy how that works. Time really DOES fly when you are having fun!!

That little lady, Callie, is 6 months younger than Zia. She is also very different from her sister. Very outgoing, smiles all the time, talks a lot and doesn’t freak out when Mommy leaves the room.

Let’s see how many pictures we can take before ALL the kids look at the camera AT THE SAME TIME.

At least Alaina listens. My request was pretty simple. “Everyone look at the camera now!”

“How about NOW?”

“Thanks Callie. One more time, please.”

“I give up.”

How come the kids love the snacks that come from other people’s house? I have bought the SAME cheesey poofs and pretzels that they get and they don’t get eaten in this house. We go over there, and they are begged for and scarfed down in seconds!

One thing we have come to love doing there is coloring. My girls have finally decided that it’s cool to sit and color and it’s a favorite pastime over there as well. Yesterday, Sonyea colored a tiger with a little direction on my part but she did it all on her own.

This last one is MY FAVORITE picture!! Heads together coloring, notice one is right handed and one is left handed so they fit perfectly together AND their tongues are sticking out.

I surely hope they continue to be friends as they grow up. We’ll have to wait for a school holiday to have another playdate. Sonyea will go to school in the AM and Alaina goes in the PM. We’ll miss them tons!!
