Woke up to this beauty today!

That’s our pumpkin. I’m so glad that I snapped these pictures this morning and that Jimmy saw it this morning when he let the dog out. By the time we got back from the zoo (5 hours later) it had already wilted. That surely didn’t last long.

I always thought the birds at the zoos were boring. Gee, another bird, whatever! Well since I was “forced” to work with them in Sioux Falls, I’ve come to love them and think they are cool. We spent a long time in the aviary at the zoo today (post to follow) but for now, check out this woodpecker. It was making a racket in the back yard today so I snapped a few pictures.

I believe it’s a red-headed woodpecker, nope, just googled it.  It’s a Northern Flicker.  Took me a long time to identify that bird.  Went from the list found here.  And then used google to find a match.

Now, on to my question.  So what do you know about pumpkin plants?  What do you know about zucchini plants?  They are starting to grow these swirly things that are strong and sticky.  They seem to be spiraling through my potted garden and latching on to things.  I don’t want to hurt the plants but we are going to have to move things around very soon as that pumpkin  gets bigger.  Here’s the cool photos…
