Farmville

Holy smokes, a Sunday where I didn’t have to work, I didn’t request off and yea, they tried to call me in. But we were already in Cooperstown, New York.

Photobucket

Have you heard of it? Something about a Major League Baseball Hall of Fame or something.

Photobucket

I’ve actually heard about the Hall of Fame, duh, I watch Ghost Hunters!!!

Photobucket

Instead, we opted for the Farm Museum. We thought the girls (and I) might be a little too bored to go to the Hall of Fame. But then again, I’d love to go sometime to see about catching a ghost on camera. I’d be taking a zillion pictures.

Let’s face the music folks, (I just watched the Tony Awards) the girls were really bored at the farm museum too. It really didn’t help that half way through they decided to melt down after melt down and refusal to listen to requests even from the workers, they were hungry. Bad Mommy! Forgetting snacks.

Photobucket

They both really enjoyed the tractor ride. We should have bowed to their requests and just rode it a few more times. I’m glad we didn’t though, we had a great experience with some baby lambs.

While I’ve done this many times before, bottle feeding baby animals never gets old! It was the first time for both my littles. Zia, oh my, she just adored it. Sonyea was a little hesitant but I think she enjoyed it.

Next stop was the Blacksmith’s place. He was on lunch but we chatted with a nice old lady who showed Sonyea how to ring the dinner bell.

Photobucket

And then showed us how to make toast without a toaster. This cool contraption goes way back. Spins so one side doesn’t get burned either. Sonyea was great at spinning it.

After we learned about snow shoes for horses, we stopped in to see the printing press. This was old school compared to what PoPop does!
They were both so patient while listening to the printer do his job. I think the other kids standing there had something to do with it. Otherwise, these two were pretty wild today!

We made a quick stop in the Doctor’s building. Found this little gem. Reminds me how back in the day, doctors really had nothing to do with birthing. Look where we are now (inserting rolling eyes here).

Photobucket

Here’s everyone’s lessons for the day::

Notice the little fingers on that last one. EVERYTHING we told them not to touch, their little fingers (missing most of the nail polish by now) somehow found a way to swipe the object. Barriers? Forget it, they were under them, over them, on top of them . . . I lost it a bunch of times. It’s really a good thing there weren’t any dangerous animals on the other side of those barriers. These girls were all over the place today.

Photobucket

They were like a bunch of wild turkeys!

The last building we went into was the school house. It was huge compared to some I’ve seen. Make sure you wipe your feet before you enter the building so we don’t track mud in everywhere.

Photobucket

Everyone had a turn teaching the class and everyone had a turn learning.

Next stop, the County Fair! Please don’t ask what is up with the dress tucked into the pants. I never did get a firm answer to why anyways.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

After a potty break for Zia (who was lagging behind us, we turned around and she had already dropped her pants and was about to poop in the grass. I think we’ve used the pottette too many times in the grass) we hit up the merry go round. It is really painful to pay for things like that when we can ride anyone of a half dozen of them in town for free!! But we did, and broke the rules just a little bit but the girls got to ride 3 times.

Do you know how hard it is to take pictures behind you when both your subjects are going up and down AND you are going up and down all the while, spinning in circles? Try it sometime, it’s not easy. I didn’t capture Zia’s enthusiasm AT all because I insisted on sitting on the darn moose!

Photobucket

Both fought over the nipples of the fake cow to get some water out of the udders. Just glad it wasn’t my nipples being pinched for a change. Thanks for the break Zia. HA!

Photobucket

Back at the Merry Go Round, they each chose another animal to ride and enjoyed the ride just as much as the first time.

We saw a few more exhibits and then headed out to the car for a quick sandwich and juice box and back on the road. There was supposed to be a horse show at the museum but we found out that it was being held at another part of town. After getting directions, twice, we still got lost. Tried consulting the map (Jimmy’s phone) and still had trouble finding it. Once we found the proper road, we winged it perfectly and came across some signs to guide the rest of the way there.

Photobucket

It was pretty cool to see the little kids riding and jumping and all but we had some problems with getting Sonyea to understand that she couldn’t ride the horses.

Photobucket

They resorted to doing gymnastics over the cord cover.

Photobucket

Both girls started screaming while running around and it was a pretty quiet event so we felt like we were out of place, the girls did get to pet some pretty horses and Sonyea has decided she wants to ride horses and jump over things when she gets bigger. We better start buying lottery tickets daily so we can afford this one! We gathered up our stuff and headed back out. Decided to walk Main Street and check out some of the shops.

Photobucket

What do you know, everything was about baseball!

We did find a nice pole to practice our gymnastics on though.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

We were getting ready to take a picture with me in it for a change but a nice lady asked us if she could take our picture for us and we happily agreed. A rare family picture.

Photobucket

Since the girls were so well behaved (relatively speaking of course) we got ice cream. The girls and Jimmy got theirs in a baseball hat cup, Yankees of course, and I got this beauty!!

Photobucket

Vanilla ice cream with a blast of orange flavor. It was AMAZING!! Every ice cream joint should offer that. Oh, it was so good. I originally wanted peanut butter but I’m glad it wasn’t working because the orange, oh yum! I wouldn’t mind the drive back there just for that flavor swirl in my ice cream.

This was the ride home.

Photobucket

So much running around and playing today. She kept up great, with a few set backs at the end of the farm because she was STARVING, wasting away to nothing.

Photobucket

Didn’t see this flag on the way up there because it was so foggy and rainy but it was pretty cool to see it from so far away. My camera has a really awesome zoom lens.

Photobucket

Keith, this last one is for you. I don’t think I remember why you chose the name Bucky so long ago but I totally thought of you when I saw this.
